Relationship Professionals
It would be easy for me to just write the antithesis of the previous relationship amateurs’ post, but that would do a disservice to relationship professionals.
Relationship professionals are heroes in their own right, and they are who romance movies, books, and plays are based on. We need relationship professionals to know that successful relationships are possible.
After 50 years of being together, the professionals are the people who still genuinely want to be together. They’ve put in the work to make their relationship endure time, hardships, personal challenges, and relationship difficulties to still be happy doing it. They didn’t keep doing it because they had to, but because they wanted to.
We all hear how relationships are such hard work. Maybe that’s true, but relationship professionals don’t make it look or seem like work. I’m not saying it is easy for them either, but there can be a wide gap between easy and hard for a relationship. Amateurs make it incredibly hard, and professionals make it as easy as possible.
Relationship professionals show up and do what needs to be done to be a good partner and have a good relationship. They are intentional about and put in the work. The work is often mundane and ordinary, but being a professional at anything is. Someone evolves from being an amateur to a professional when…
